Q. What is telehealth?
A. Telehealth uses technology to help patients access services from health professionals.  There are many different techniques and uses related to telemedicine.  The NTI uses video conferencing conferencing equipment.  When using the equipment, you can see and talk with a professional who can see and talk with you.

Q. How does Northern Human Services use telemedicine to serve people throughout Northern NH?

A.  Currently, Northern Human Services is partnering with a child psychiatrist who provides consultations for pediatric clients within the agency.  These consultations can be arranged through one of our local mental health centers.

Northern Human Services has also partnered with the hospitals in Northern NH to begin offering emergency psychiatric consultations via videoconferencing.  This new initiative will allow patients in the local emergency departments to be assessed by one of Northern’s clinicians without unnecessary wait times creating by staff needing to travel to the ED.
